Hi! I’m Tabitha. I’m originally a small town girl but now call Toronto, ON home. I’m the Health Coach here at Compass and I am so pleased you stopped by!
I started this holistic journey after I went through a wild ride of my own health concerns that opened up my eyes and soul to the nourishment that real, whole food can bring. In 2009, as I was wrapping up my BA, I was met with fatigue and stabbing pains in my lower abdomen that I could no longer ignore. After many visits with many doctors and specialists, I left feeling that I had more questions than answers. I couldn’t understand what left me feeling so awful, and doctors weren’t able to link my pain to any one diagnosis.
I struggled with this until a friend suggested I read the book ‘It Starts With Food’ by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig. This book just got me! It taught me to reshape my habits one meal at a time and showed me that real food didn't need to taste awful and be a slow, mentally draining process in the kitchen. Through this journey, I slowly healed my pain and gained energy by changing the foods that fueled me. By switching from processed convenience food to real, whole ingredients, I was able to appreciate my day-to-day — working out and feeling empowered through movement instead of ‘punishing’ myself for continual poor food choices.
My journey has opened up a whole other part of me that I never knew could exist — it has opened up my soul to understand that each choice you make in life can empower you! It has proven that society’s approach to food and fitness has always been about ‘fixing’ something, but if we simply focus on feeling empowered through the choices we make in life, including the food we put on our plate, we really can harness the energy to live our best life and be the best versions of ourselves!
While I am completing my diploma at NutraPhoria (to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist), I still take on clients coaching them with the real time information I am learning and implementing from my own personal life experience. My specialty is in real, functional food and making it work for your life. I am not a chef; and I like to teach you that you don't have to be one either in order to put good food on your plate! I love to help people rediscover the convenience of real food and finding their groove in the kitchen. At Compass, I absolutely love that I have the opportunity to work with a collective of like-minded women who believe 'empowering' through mind, body, movement and nutrition is the way to a healthier you!
